Striving for Preservation of the Classic Arabian . . .

. . . a natural athlete.  With our American Foundation bred stallion and mare being primarily of the "Crabbet-Maynesboro-Kellogg" (CMK) stock, we are dedicated to the preservation & continued appreciation of the original Classic Arabian horse.  At SA Silvr Arabians, we are devoted to breeding beautiful horses with gentle companionship dispositions.

Believing that performance is the heart of the Arabian horse, SA Silvr Arabians breeds to produce athletic individuals that will excel in most disciplines including dressage, hunter pleasure, western pleasure, sport horse, halter, cutting, working western, reining, trail, endurance and racing.  Our Arabians are bred to endure disciplines demanding strength, balance and soundness of mind without compromise in type.  Sweet, honest dispositions are foremost in our breeding program.

(CMK) stands for "Crabbet-Maynesboro-Kellogg" in recognition of three programs which transmitted much of the central stock of what became North America's historical Arab-breeding tradition.  "CMK" is a registered US trademark."  For more information on these CMK bloodlines, please visit http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Ranch/3479/CMKIdenity.htm

SOME INTERESTING READING
ON A FEW OF THE PRESERVATION PROGRAMS
THAT WE ARE FOCUSING ON IN OUR BREEDING PROGRAM

FOUNDATION

Early American Foundation (Vol.V) Horses that were registered in the Arabian Horse Club Registry of America stud book volume V. Includes registrations 1 thru 2924, roughly thru the year 1944.  These horses are designated "Early American Foundation" by the AFAHA and are also included in the CMK group.  (SILVR TALISMAN'S PEDIGREE IS MADE UP OF ALL OF THESE HORSES - EXCEPT FOR THE GREAT *NABORR AND *WITEZ II)

There are some preservation breeders that only focus on one particular horse and try to get as much line breeding in their pedigrees as possible but primarily in the top sire line due to only the sire being able to pass on the "Y" chromosome which carries other genes/traits that may otherwise be lost. Some of the horses that are the focus of this type of preservation breeding are El Emir, Mesaoud, Witez II, Ghazala, Image, Raffles, Skowronek, Nazeer, Moniet El Nefous, Nasik & Farana. These horses were chosen for this type of breeding program because it was believed that they each had specific individual traits and talents that were being lost in the Arabian breed.

CMK

Kellogg refers to any horse that was owned by or bred by W.K. Kellogg and does not include horses bred after the Kellogg Ranch was turned over to the US Remount. Kellogg bloodlines include many horses from the Crabbet, Davenport, Harris, Babson, and Traveler's Rest breeding programs.  Horses of Kellogg breeding are included in the CMK group.  (THIS HAS BEEN OUR MAIN FOCUS WITH OUR STALLION SILVR TALISMAN AND OUR MARE, BUTTON TOP RETHA)
